I liked Blimpaps when you first developed them, but I haven't been paying attention to developments over the last several years. Changes that I particularly like are the Blipmap UniViewer, fixed color mapping, and NAM models (longer forecasts). These simplified planning for two (pending) World Class (PW5) distance world records in May. Blipmaps and the NAM were used to look ahead a day or two for good conditions. A check of the weather forecaster's discussion on the local NOAA web site and a check of clouds on the high resolution satellite loops completed the planning. Thanks for the help. Mike Parker

I just spent two months traveling from WA to FL (via AZ) and back (via ND and WY) with my wife, motorhome, and motorglider. I flew 10 times in 9 different states, about twice as much as the guys at home. Thank goodness for Blipmaps! I had no local knowledge in these areas, so I depended on them. The Memphis Soaring Society has found the Blipspot at Cherry Valley. AR to be a great asset to our activities. This has been the best soaring season in years in our area. We don't know if that is because of unusual weather conditions, or the improved soaring weather forcasting provided by the Blipspot. Most of us call up the Blipspot the first thing in the morning of a scheduled flying day. Attendence at the club varies with the Blipspot forecast

Donors are provided with access to all RAP and ETA BLIPMAP forecasts, so for those not already subscribed to the models a minimum donation equal to that subscription cost is expected. Those who are already fully subscribed can make a donation of any amount. Contributions should made using the Donation webpage (this requires that one be "logged on", i.e. have a DrJack cookie - if that is not the case you will instead be sent to the "Visitor Access" screen and asked to "logon" before being sent to the Donation webpage). Also note that an amount of $50 or more might instead be used to sponsor a BLIPSPOT for your region, as described here
